Weight Loss and Addiction

Our weight loss program is a combination of nutritional coaching and auricular medicine. Using a combination of techniques, we test our patients for multiple areas of the brain involved in stress responses as well as reward and punishment. Tiny intradermal needles are strategically placed in the outer ear to work on those specific areas that are reactive to testing. The needles can stay in the ear anywhere from one to three weeks.  Doing it this way allows people to go for longer time between treatments than they would with traditional acupuncture. The treatments appear to help with cravings, detoxification, stress, and hormone fluctuations.

Typically three to four followup visits are needed, although that can of course vary from patient to patient. At some point, once weight is lost and lifestyle changes have been comfortably established, the needles are no longer needed. Personal goals help guide this process.

Other addictions are treated similarly to weight loss, with a combination of auricular medicine and addiction coaching. It is widely recognized by addiction professionals that there is no one therapy that will take care of addiction; a multifaceted approach is recommended and encouraged. We make multiple recommendations for lifestyle modification and also refer out for additional therapies and pharmaceuticals when appropriate. Auricular medicine helps with cravings, detox, and stress and therefore augments the efficacy of other treatment protocols and methods.
